The Restored Victorian Fountain In Dun Laoghaire

The Victoria Fountain described by architectural historian Peter Pearson in his book ‘Kingstown’ as: “a beautiful monument, a defenseless symbol of the bygone age”, was erected to commemorate Queen Victoria’s visit to Dún Laoghaire in 1900.

Every time i see it I notice additional detail such as “Keep The Pavement Dry”

This small decorative fountain was vandalised in 1982 but it was completely restored in 2002, I wonder if many who pass be actually realise what it is?

During her 63 year reign Queen Victoria visited Ireland 4 times. The current monarch visited Ireland last year.

Malahide Castle

The history of the Talbot family is recorded in the Great Hall, where portraits of generations of the family tell their own story of Ireland’s stormy history. Many additions and alterations have been made to this romantic and beautiful structure, but the contours of the surrounding parklands have changed little in 800 years, retaining a sense of the past.

Killiney – Graffiti At The Old Tea Rooms

Back in 2009 there was a proposal to restore the tea rooms at White Cottages on Killiney beach in south Co Dublin to their original state but I assume that this is not going to happen in the near future.
